Permission to Republish an Article

The Hoya is a member of U-WIRE, a free membership organization for the college press. Articles may be posted to U-WIRE and made available to nearly 700 college media outlets. U-WIRE content is also syndicated to professional media outlets such as the NYTimes Digital and Yahoo! Sports. We advise parties interested in republishing an article to check U-WIRE first. Our express consent to republish is already granted on articles already released to U-WIRE, which may be republished by U-WIRE members.

For permission to republish any article that has not been released to U-WIRE, please contact our managing editor at managing@thehoya.com or by phone at (202) 687-3415. Include your name, your title, the name of your organization, your contact information, your purpose for requesting permission to republish, and either: (1) the URL of the article for which you wish to gain permission to republish; or (2) the title, the printing date, and the page number (if applicable) of the article for which you wish to gain permission to republish.

In all instances, the author and “The Hoya” must be specifically credited in the byline.

We reserve the right to refuse any requests for permission to republish The Hoya or thehoya.com material for any reason. We generally do not give permission for:

* Sales, marketing or promotion, including communications to current or potential customers
* Fundraising
* Commercial purposes

Permission to Republish a Photograph

The Hoya occasionally releases photographs to U-WIRE by the same process detailed above. Our express consent to republish is already granted on photographs already released to U-WIRE, which may be republished by U-WIRE members.

To obtain republishing rights for all other original photographs printed in The Hoya or appearing on thehoya.com, please contact our photography editor at photo@thehoya.com or by phone at (202) 687-3415. Include your name, your title, the name of your organization, your contact information, your purpose for requesting permission to republish, and either: (1) the URL of the photograph for which you wish to gain permission to republish; or (2) the title, the printing date, and the page number (if applicable) of the article accompanying the photograph for which you wish to gain permission to republish.

In all instances, the photographer and “The Hoya” must be specifically credited in the description or caption.

You generally do not need to request permission to post a text link only that links back to thehoya.com Web site. We reserve the right however, to revoke permission at any time for such text links.

All articles are posted at a static URL. With the release of a new edition, articles are archived and may still be accessed at the same URL.

The Hoya does not allow framing or the use of our logos or graphics.
