The Georgetown men’s and women’s basketball teams released their Big East and nonconference schedules on Sept. 13 and Sept. 17, respectively, with important rivalry and conference matchups for both squads.
The men’s team will open its 13-game slate of nonconference games with a home matchup on Nov. 6 against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Notably, the Hoyas will also compete in the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic from Nov. 16 to 18 in Montego Bay, Jamaica — the country where head coach Patrick Ewing was born.
Georgetown will also travel to the Carrier Dome to face longtime rival Syracuse on Dec. 8.
Coach Ewing is looking forward to the Hoyas’ nonconference matchups.
“We are very excited for the upcoming season,” Ewing said in an interview with GUHoyas. “I am obviously looking forward to taking my team to my home country of Jamaica, and going back to Syracuse will undoubtedly bring back many memories for me.”
The Hoyas will play their first Big East matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 2, against Butler. Georgetown will also travel to Madison Square Garden to face St. John’s on Jan. 27.
The following week, the Hoyas will meet defending national champion Villanova on the road in Philadelphia. Coach Ewing, in his second season on the Hilltop, will face the more experienced Jay Wright, who is entering his seventeenth season as Villanova head coach.
At the end of the season, Georgetown will compete in the Big East Tournament from March 13 to March 16.
The women’s basketball team will begin its season on Nov. 9 in McDonough Arena against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Women’s basketball head coach James Howard is looking forward to the Hoyas’ strong nonconference schedule.
