Former Hoya men’s tennis players David Boyer (COL ’00) and Beau Brewer (COL ’00) and senior women’s tennis player Jean Roberts, were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete All-Americans based on their outstanding performance in the classroom and on the courts. Both the Georgetown men’s and women’s tennis teams were also honored with the 2000 ITA All-Academic team awards.

Boyer and Brewer were selected as ITA Scholar Athlete All-Americans for the second straight year. Boyer was a 1999-2000 Big East Scholar-Athlete and played most of his matches at the No. 3 doubles slot. He finished the year with a 12-14 record. Brewer, last year’s captain, was a Rhodes Scholar finalist, a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and a four-time Big East Scholar-Athlete. Brewer often played No. 4 singles and completed the season with a 10-16 singles record and a 6-8 doubles record.

Roberts finished her junior year with a 3-1 singles record and a 3-2 doubles record.

In order to obtain the team award, a school’s entire tennis team has to have a grade-point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. The award marked the fourth time in five years that the women had received the honor.
