Papers and Parties Keep the Balance at GU

Georgetown is a party school (“Intellectual Life at GU Lacks Scholarly Spark,” THE HOYA, Feb. 1, 2008, A3)? As a transfer student, I can state with absolutely no doubt in my mind that Georgetown is not a party school. The university community maintains a healthy balance between partying and academics, and the students here are hard-working and excited about what they’re doing. If the dean is looking for a place where students learn for the sake of learning without any ambitious goals in mind, maybe he should get a job at the University of Chicago, the place where fun goes to die.
