Two firetrucks and an ambulance responded to billowing steam from Copley Hall Sunday resulting in an evacuation.

Copley Hall was evacuated Sunday at 12:20 p.m. after large amounts of white steam were seen pouring from the roof and basement of the building.

The steam was released by a broken pipe in the building’s boiler room, according to a Department of Public Safety officer. Outside doors of the building were opened in order to release the steam.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene with two fire trucks and an ambulance at 12:30p.m.

Maintenance workers had to shut off equipment in the boiler room in order to address the break, according toD.C. Fire and EMS.

Students and staff were allowed to reenter the building at 12:45 p.m., and D.C. Fire left the scene at 1:07 p.m.

The broken pipe was being fixed at press time.
