Only Hoya Coach Leaves After Six Straight Losing Seasons

After finishing its most successful season ever in 1998, the Georgetown men’s lacrosse team will begin the 1999 season ranked eighth nationally in Face-Off Magazine’s pre-season poll.

Last season, the Hoyas finished 10-5 overall for the season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament before losing to 12-11 Loyola (Md.). The entire starting lineup is returning for the Hoyas this year.

The Hoyas also had five players who received pre-season All-American honors. Senior captain Greg McCavera was named to the First Team, senior Greg Hubschmann was named to the Second Team, and senior Brian Hole was given Third Team honors. Seniors Scott Urick and Anderson Bell were both given Honorable ention.

Twelve of the Hoyas’ thirteen opponents were also ranked in the poll. Georgetown begins their season by playing host to Brown on Feb. 27 at 1:00.
