Georgetown’s men and women’s swimming teams competed in the Potomac Relay Invitational against American, George Washington, Mary Washington, Catholic and the Navy women’s team on Friday. The men’s team came in third with 62 points, behind American (126 points) and GW (82 points). The women’s squad also finished third, with 74 points, behind American (97) and GW (92).
The best finish for the Georgetown men’s team was a second-place performance in the 200-yard freestyle. The team of junior Chris Lengle, freshman Dan Connelly, sophomore Bryan Evangelista and freshman Shodai Enters raced for a time of 1:28.42 to finish behind American’s team, which came in at 1:26.18.
The men had third place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay, the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 3-x-100-yard breaststroke relays.
The Hoya women’s best finish was in the 3-x-100 butterfly. The team of junior Lauren Schmidt, sophomore Katherine Hayes and junior Caragh Moynihan had the winning time of 3:03.40. The women also took second in the 200 freestyle relay. Schmidt, sophomores Liz D’Auria, Erin Lenahan and Lauren Moynihan came in at 1:14.60, just .05 seconds behind Mary Washington.
Georgetown also won the coed 400-yard relay. Sophomore Amanda Burke, senior Richard Dennis, Schmidt and Evangelista were victorious with a time of 4:03.62.
