The Georgetown coed sailing team proved a strong competitor for the national championship, coming away with a big win at the esteemed Navy Fall Intersectional Regatta this weekend. The Hoyas turned in their best performance of the season, topping 13 of the top 15 teams in the country in their 185-point victory. Tufts and Hobart/William Smith rounded out the top three with 208 and 247 points, respectively.
Juniors Brian Bissell and Melanie Wood led the Hoyas to a second-place finish in the B division with 45 points, while seniors Ryan Costello and Raoul Magana also placed second in the C and D divisions, with 36 and 32 points, respectively. The A division took eighth place with efforts from seniors John Camera and Baye Emery and junior Leah Williams, who amassed 72 points.
Georgetown also competed in the Washington College Open, taking home second-place honors.
Seniors Peter King and Paige Black prevailed in the A division with 13 points, and juniors Pat Donegan and Elizabeth Rockman earned third place in the B division, accumulating 27 points.
Georgetown will compete in the Stu Nelson Women’s Intersectional at Connecticut College and the King’s Point Dinghy Open next weekend.
