Yesterday the Georgetown, Divest! coalition announced in a press release that the coalition would take further action this week to reach the administration. The group marched from Red Square to University President John J. DeGioia’s office in Healy Hall at about 2:30 p.m..
“If the university continues to ignore our concerns, we will return each day this week to remind the administration that students will not allow the university to continue practices of socially irresponsible investing,” the press release read.
Georgetown, Divest! is a coalition of students and student groups including the Georgetown Solidarity Committee and Students for Justice in Palestine. The coalition seeks to persuade the university to divest from companies that facilitate human rights abuses in Israel and Palestine.
