Baseball

Georgetown senior catcher Erick Fernandez earned preseason all-Big East honors announced by the league on Jan. 5.

After hitting .317 with five homeruns and 29 RBI in his junior campaign, Fernandez was drafted in the 46th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals but decided to return for his senior season.

 

Women’s Lacrosse

Bunny O’Reilly, a former attack and midfield star with the Hoyas, has joined the Georgetown women’s lacrosse team as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2011 season.

In 49 starts as a player, O’Reilly scored 44 goals and added 21 assists. She is assuming the role of Stefanie Sparks, who held the position for three seasons.               

 

Women’s Soccer

First team All-American and two-time Big East midfielder of the year Ingrid Wells was one of 24 players invited to training camp for the Under-23 U.S. National Team.

In her three years on the Hilltop, Wells has scored 22 goals with 34 assists for 78 points. Training camp began Jan. 9 and will continue through Jan. 16 in Carson, Calif.
