Village A Resident Comes Face to Face With Late-Night Intruder

A recent string of burglaries in Village A continued this weekend as a student met a burglar head-on in his apartment early this morning.

The student reported the incident to DPS at 12:22 a.m., according to the Public Safety Alert. The intruder entered the apartment through an unlocked door.

The suspect moved some items in the apartment, but was confronted by the resident before anything could be stolen and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black man with a shaved head, approximately 6’1” and between the ages of 18 and 22.

The attempted burglary bears many similarities to recent burglaries at Village A. There have been three burglaries in the past month, on Oct. 16, Oct. 21 and Oct. 26, all at Village A. In all three instances, laptop computers were stolen from the apartments, which were unlocked at the times of the burglaries. No thefts were reported in the most recent Village A break-in.

No physical injuries were reported in any of the cases.
