Nineteen students won seats in the Georgetown University Student Association (GUSA) Senate, the GUSA Election Commission announced April 18.
Six senators each were elected to represent the Class of 2029, Class of 2028 and Class of 2027. The candidates, including 12 incumbents, campaigned on issues including equitable funding for student organizations and improved dining and transportation.

The six Class of 2027 senators-elect are newcomers Alessia Viscusi (SFS ʼ27) and James Nichols-Worley (CAS ʼ27), incumbents Sienna Lipton (CAS ʼ27) and Jacob Intrator (CAS ʼ27), and write-in candidates Sameel Karzai (CAS ’27) and Lex Njomin (SFS ’27).
The at-large senator-elect is Vincent Barahona (MSB, SFS ’27), who ran unopposed.
The senators-elect from the Class of 2028 are incumbents Tyler Chase (SFS ʼ28), Cameran Lane (CAS ʼ28), Zadie Weaver (CAS ʼ28) and Roan Bedoian (CAS ʼ28), as well as first-time candidates Aqib Khan (SFS ʼ28) and Paolo Reyes (SFS ʼ28).
Chase ran on fair distribution of GUSA’s student organization funds, including clubs under the McDonough School Advisory Board. Reyes’ platform included improving the nutritional information available for the university’s dining options.
The elected senators for the Class of 2029, which was the largest field with nine candidates, include incumbents Dima Al-Quzwini (SFS ʼ29), Iris Cho (SOH ʼ29), Constantine Filippatos (SFS ’29), Angelina Kou (CAS ʼ29) and Sam Baghdadchi (CAS ʼ29), and first-time candidate Ayesha Murtaza (CAS, McCourt ʼ29).
Cho’s re-election campaign focused on increasing the clarity and equity of student organization funding and supporting campus diversity. Al-Quzwini’s bid was framed around improving students’ campus experience.
The senators for the Classes of 2027, 2028 and 2029 will serve a year-long term, beginning this week and ending in April 2027. Barahona, the elected at-large senator, will serve through the end of the current at-large term in October.
