Georgetown will be increasing security following the bombings at the Boston Marathon, according to an email sent to the university by Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety Jay Gruber Friday morning.

DPS will work the Metropolitan Police Department and ensure more uniformed officers on campus.Gruber urged the Georgetown community to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.

Gruber also stressed that these were precautionary measures and that no threats have been made to the university campus.

According to various media sources, the two people suspected of detonating explosives near the finish line of the Boston Marathon are brothers.

One of the alleged bombers, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed Thursday evening following the shooting death of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer and a subsequent manhunt. The other suspect, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, is still on the loose.

Three people, Krystle Campbell, 29, Martin Richard, 8, and Boston University graduate student LuLingzi, 23,  were killed in the marathon explosions on Monday afternoon.
