The Georgetown baseball team will welcome five new student-athletes to the Hilltop next year as part of the Class of 2015. These prospective freshmen will look to make an impact on a young team that finished at the bottom of the Big East last year.

Both Max Allen, a right-handed pitcher from Highland Park, Ill., and Will Brown, another righty from Chesterfield, Va., should bolster Georgetown’s pitching rotation. Both talented pitchers will join a staff aiming to follow in the footsteps of Tim Adleman (NHS ’10), who was selected in the 24th round of the Major League Baseball draft this past year.

“Once they fill out, they’re going to be outstanding,” Head Coach Pete Wilk said of Allen and Brown.

Matt Hollenbeck, a left-handed pitcher from Horsham, Pa., will bring a wealth of athleticism and potential to the Hoyas’ rotation.

“Once [Hollenbeck] puts 12 months a year on baseball, he’s such a good athlete, his arm and athleticism are going to translate into a hell of a [lot of] potential,” Wilk said. All three of [these pitchers] can pitch for us now, but they’re going to be outstanding down the road. …  They’ll see fairly significant innings [next year].”

In addition to these three pitchers, Georgetown will add two infielders to its roster. Ryan Busch, a utility player from Falcon Heights, Minn., will provide versatility in the infield, and Wilk expects him to make an impact sooner rather than later, especially as a middle-infielder.

“Busch has a chance to make an immediate impact depending on [the composition of our roster after the MLB draft],” Wilk said.

Roberto Rodriguez, a catcher from Clermont, N.J., provides fantastic defense with the potential to be a solid offensive presence.

“[Rodriguez] is quick with very good hands. He’s a good catch and throw guy,” Wilk said. “I feel strongly he’ll be a good hitter as well.”

With eight quality players in their final season with the team, many of these recruits will see significant innings next year. But Wilk feels strongly that this class has the potential to make a positive impact on Georgetown’s baseball program, both next year and down the road.

“This is another strong group of players we’re bringing to Georgetown,” he said. “They’ll make great additions to the Hilltop.”
