Rising sophomore guard Taylor Brown will be leaving the Georgetown women’s basketball program, Head Coach Keith Brown announced Monday morning.
The announcement marks the first transfer of Keith Brown’s tenure, which began in May after longtime coach Terri Williams-Flournoy departed for Auburn. The decision ends a promising start for Brown, who averaged 4.1 points and 1.6 rebounds last season in 32 games — 12 of which she started.
“Taylor is a great player and a great person,” Keith Brown wrote in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that things didn’t work out for her here, but I am certain that she will be an asset wherever she goes. We wish her the best.”
The 5-foot-7 guard shot 38.5 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from three-point land, and notched a career-high 13 points in a win over Monmouth last November. She would have almost certainly begun this season as the Hoyas’ starting point guard following the graduation of two-year starter Rubylee Wright.
There was no word Monday on where Brown intends to transfer.
