Georgetown Student Assaulted on Harbin Patio

A Georgetown student was reportedly attacked early this morning by three unknown males, according to a Public Safety Announcement issued by the Department of Public Safety this morning.

According to the PSA, the student was reportedly smoking on Harbin Patio when three black males wearing white Georgetown sweatshirts approached him. One of the men made an incoherent comment before all three pushed the complainant against the wall. One of the suspects then struck the complainant several times with a shiny object, which the PSA states may have been a knife. The suspects reportedly ran down the Harbin steps onto Tondorf Road towards the Leavey center.

GERMS, DPS and MPD all responded to the scene, but DPS declined to comment on the status of the investigation.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for lacerations to his cheek and forehead and was subsequently released.

The PSA was posted on the DPS Web site this morning, and University Spokesperson Julie Bataille said an email will be sent to students later today.

Lincois Anderson, Harbin Hall director, could not be reached for comment.

Harbin Hall Resident Assistants, GERMS and DPS declined to comment.
