The Georgetown women’s basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to pick up its sixth win of the season with a 70-52 victory on the road at Sacred Heart University. The Hoyas trailed by two points at the half, but outscored the Pioneers 45-25 in the final 20 minutes en route to their second win in a row.
Senior guard Katie Smrcka-Duffy led the Hoyas in scoring for the sixth time in seven games with 20 points and came within a rebound of her second double-double this season with nine rebounds. Junior guard Lesley Walker also reached double digits in scoring, adding 13 points to the Hoyas’ winning effort.
Brooke Rutnik paced the Pioneers with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Georgetown improves to 6-2 on the season while Sacred Heart drops to 2-4. Last season, the Hoyas downed the Pioneers 82-54 in cDonough Arena.
Including their 70-46 trouncing of Fairleigh Dickinson last month, the Hoyas complete their tour of the Northeast conference with a 2-0 mark.
The Hoyas will look for their third win in a row tomorrow as they face George Washington in McDonough Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
