Georgetown did not feel the love in the City of Brotherly Love on Wednesday.

The Hoya field hockey team traveled north to take on the St. Joseph’s Hawks in Philadelphia. But the Hoyas fell as the Hawks swooped down to gather up six goals and shut out Georgetown 6-0, handing the Hoyas their ninth shutout of the season and dropping Georgetown’s record to 3-14-0 with one game left.

The Hawks (10-7-0) dominated play from the start of the game, but solid Georgetown defense kept them from scoring until the 25th minute, when junior back Hilary Moody capitalized on a corner and netted one for St. Joseph’s.

The Hawks scored two more goals in the first half and added three in the second half.

Sophomore midfielder Nicole Antonini led St. Joseph’s scoring with three goals and one assist in the game. Senior forward Katelee Zapolski was also a key element to the Hawks’ offense with one goal, one assist and three shots on goal.

St. Joseph’s totaled 25 shots – 16 on goal – for the day. The Hoyas managed only two shots with one on goal.

Georgetown’s defense had an impressive day from its two sophomore goalkeepers. Abby Winer posted eight saves in 47 minutes of play, and Caitlyn Faller played for 23 minutes and made two saves.

Georgetown will return to Washington, D.C., for its final game of the season.

The Hoyas make their last stand against Bucknell tomorrow at noon on Kehoe Field.

After the game, the team will honor its three senior captains, midfielder Meghan Devaney, back Caroline Cole and midfielder Meghan Leahy.
