Hoyas Place 15th at National Meet

Georgetown cross country capped off an impressive season at the 2004 NCAA Division I Championships Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.

Seniors Rod Koborsi and Nicole Lee garnered All-American status as they finished among the top 20 spots in the country.

Even though a muddy course slowed many of the times and performances, Koborsi seemed unfazed as he finished 10th overall in a race which featured over 240 runners. He clocked a time of 31:06 for the 10-km run.

Juniors Chris Lukezic and Fleet Hower finished in 59th and 70th places with times of 32:07 and 32:16, respectively.

Junior Steven Meinelt followed with a time of 33:22, good for 176th place. Sophomore Brian Dalpiaz rounded out the Hoya scorers, finishing in 200th place in a time of 33:38.

The Hoyas earned 400 points to claim 15th place. Colorado University won the meet with 90 points.

On the women’s side, Lee took 19th in a time of 20:53 for the 6-km race. Freshman Maggie Infeld, the only other Hoya in the race, finished in 105th position with a time of 21:59.

Kim Smith from Providence won the women’s race in a time of 20:08, while Colorado took home the women’s national title with a score of 63 points.

The NCAA meet marks the end of the cross country season for the Hoyas. As the temperature drops and fall becomes a distant memory, the Hoyas look forward to the fast approaching winter track season.
