When did you first start playing baseball? My mom started me when I was 2 years old and my dad took over after that. My mom got me a whiffle bat and ball and we played in the yard. Once when my dad was playing with me, I hit the ball and he caught it and said I was out, so I started chasing him with the bat. I was about 5 years old.

Favorite thing about baseball: The camaraderie and the challenge and competition.

Worst injury you have ever had: In seventh grade I blew out my elbow, and missed the Little League All-Stars. It’s actually kind of embarrassing – I was running and I tried to jump over a puddle and I fell and slipped. Not a heroic story.

One thing that always puts you in a good mood: Playing the piano. I’ve played since I was in third grade. It’s really relaxing, especially when I get stressed out.

Favorite place: At home with my mom, sitting at the kitchen with my mom’s home-cooked food.

One thing you couldn’t live without: Family and friends.

Most prized possession: My gold chain with a Cross and a baseball. I never take it off.

Do you have any pets? I have a dog, Samantha. She’s a chocolate Lab.

Favorite way to relax: Going to the beach.

First concert you ever went to: I went to the Hollywood Bowl when I was 8 years old and I saw a Disney production. The best part was in the walkway there was this homeless saxophone player who was doing it for money. That was the most memorable part.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? I would rent out a cruise boat and take out all of my family and friends.

Reason for coming to Georgetown: I liked being in Washington, D.C., and around the politics. I had an internship with Senator Kennedy my junior year.

Was it a culture shock coming to school on the East Coast? Definitely. In California, it’s really laid back and everyone hangs out on the beach and walks in the sand. There are no beaches here, and the weather’s so cold. I’m not such a fan of the scarves.

One habit or quirk your friends give you a hard time for: I’m pretty messy. My room isn’t the cleanest thing. My roommate and I live in the basement, and we try to make it the VIP lounge, but it turns into the messy basement.

What motivates/drives you the most: Just living with no regrets, just making sure I give it my all. And the competitive aspect. I enjoy what I’m doing, too.

Top three fantasy baseball picks: Roger Clemens, Derek Jeter, and Nomar Garciaparra (he’s my favorite player).

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? To fly so I could go wherever.

Favorite home-cooked meal: Chicken enchiladas.

Best thing you know how to cook for yourself: An egg and cheese omelet. That’s the only thing I know how to make.

One thing that playing sports has taught you: That you’ve got to work hard to do good.

Favorite childhood book: Dr. Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham.

Favorite current book: Founding Brothers.

Who would you say has had the biggest influence on you? My dad, because he was very successful in what he did, but he kept perspective on the importance of family and everything else. He lived up to integrity and passion and had strong faith. He set a good example.

Three magazines on your ideal coffee table: axim, Stuff and Newsweek.

Best sports-related memory: Playing at the Angel’s stadium for the State Finals in 1999, my junior year in high school. We played in front of 10,000 people. That’s one thing we need – we need to have more Georgetown people come to our games.

Favorite sports franchise: The Dodgers – that’s who I grew up with, going to all the games.

Favorite movie: Shawshank Redemption.

Least favorite movie: The Lord of the Rings, the last one. It was too long – I lost interest. That, and The Italian Job – I thought it was totally unrealistic.

Plans for after graduation: I’m going to New York to work in investment banking for Bear Stearns Co. I want to do it for a couple of years and then go back home.

Favorite thing to order from Wisey’s: Chicken Madness.

Thing you miss most about living at home: The beach and my mom’s home-cooked meals and hanging out with my brothers (Garrett, 18 and Matthew, 17).

One thing you want to be remembered for: Smiling, having a good time.

Freshman dorm: New South, first floor with my roommate Carlos – we’ve been roommates all four years now. I loved it – it was a blast.

What do you do to get psyched for a game? The National Anthem right before the game, when we’re standing in the lines.

One non-sports-related goal you have for before graduation: Well, I want to graduate Cum Laude.

Thing you’ll miss the most about college: I’ll miss all our friends being so close together and just stopping by to say what’s up.

Goal for the baseball team this year: To make it to the Big East Tournament.

One piece of advice you’d give to an incoming freshman: Just enjoy college – it’ll be the best time. And make sure you make Rhino’s your second home. Rhino’s and then late-night at my house for a flip cup and Beirut tournament.

What’s under your bed right now? A 45-pound weight.
