Favorite Team: I like basketball, and my favorite team at the time is the one I decide to root for in the finals.

Favorite Athlete: Cathy Freeman. She’s an amazing runner and people say I look like her.

Song that psychs you up: “Eye of the Tiger”

Age when you started running competively: 12

True or false: running is your life. False. Running has taken over my life, but I don’t mind.

Activities at GU besides track: I’ve had a couple of interships – at the Commerce Department and at OPIC (Overseas Private Investment Corporation). I was involved in the after school kids program.

Favorite Georgetown Class: International Business Diplomacy with Professor Kline. It was at 8:50, but it wasn’t a struggle to go to class. He’s like a mentor to me. That’s what got me [interested] in consulting [with] private sector firms that have a presence abroad.

Three magazines on your coffee table: Essence, Track and Field News and The Economist

CD in your CD player right now: A mixed bootleg reggae CD that I bought in Jamaica.

Movie you could watch 1,000 times: Dumb and Dumber

Times per week you call home: Three or four. My mom and I are best friends, we talk all the time. My little sister, too.

One vivid memory from freshman year: On the 4×800, I dropped the baton three times and people started calling me butterfingers. I haven’t dropped the baton since.

Three books in your ideal library: A Maya Angelou book of poetry, a Spanish/English dictionary and a World Atlas.

Three people, dead or alive, with whom you want to have dinner, and what you would eat: My grandmother – she’s dead, but I never really got to know her – Florence Griffith Joyner and Hillary Clinton. Salmon.

You just said that it has to be a woman that you would invite to dinner. Are you a feminist? Yeah. Girl power.

One word to describe yourself: Dedicated.

One word your coach would use to describe you: Anal.

Most prized possession: My books of poetry. It’s my life story and I’ve been writing it since elementary school, fifth grade. If I lost it, I’d be very upset.

How often do you write in your books? I write in it mostly when I’m at an emotional extreme – very happy, very sad.

Most inviting part of New York: Definitely upstate, better than the city. People always trash upstate New York and make fun of where I’m from.

Least inviting part of New York: There’s no bad part of New York.

Will you move home after graduation? No way. Too proud. Need my own space.

Anything you regret from college that you would do over given the chance: Nothing. I learned from everything I did wrong, so I wouldn’t change anything.

Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Yep. It was just false, though. I was so mad. It wasn’t my fault. It was the officer’s fault, ’cause he shouldn’t have been driving behind me. He had his brights on and I sped up to get away from them.

What do you eat before a race? A bowl of Bran Chex, one banana, cranberry juice and I make sure I pack a peanutbutter, banana and honey sandwich for the meet.

What is under your bed right now? Two cases of Sam’s Club water bottles, two cases of Dole pineapple juice, various track spikes and shoes and soap and stuff like that.
