The InterHall Council sponsored a forum on the Southwest Quadrangle residence hall and dining facility with key administrators involved in the planning, fundraising and construction of the building Friday afternoon in the Village C Alumni Lounge.

“The forum gave students an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the new dorm and dining hall and it gave administrators a chance to present the features of the new buildings,” Joe Rose (COL ’05), InterHall vice president for external affairs, said.

Speakers at the forum included Karen Frank, vice president of facilities and student housing; Bob Robinson, director of housing operations; Margie Bryant, associate vice president for Auxiliary Services; Todd Olson, associate vice president for student affairs; and Mary Prahinski, director of development for special projects at the Office of Alumni and University Relations.

Frank showed off the floor plans and pictures of a typical bedroom and bathroom in the new 780-bed residence hall in a slide show.

“The forum helped clear up misconceptions about housing for next year and I felt a lot of questions about the dining hall were well addressed,” Rose added.

Over 125 students attended the forum, which gave students an opportunity to sign up for a tour of the new residence hall once it nears completion.

“We had a really good turnout,” Cielo Zislis (NHS ’06), vice president for community relations, said. “I was impressed with the number of administrators [who were not on the schedule to speak] who also attended the event.”
