Man Invades Student’s Bed in Burglary

In a Public Safety Alert sent out to students Thursday evening, the Department of Public Safety reported that an unidentified male allegedly entered a female student’s residence on the 3400 block of N Street and climbed into bed with her yesterday at 6:42 a.m.

When the student woke up, the suspect fled the student’s residence through the front door, according to the PSA. DPS reported that the suspect entered the residence by unknown means, though there was no sign of a break-in.

Both DPS and the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene. A search was conducted by both departments, though no trace of the suspect was found.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-11 – 6-foot Hispanic male of medium build.

This is the fourth incident reported by DPS to students since Sept. 5 in which a suspect alledgedly climbed into bed with a female student. In a fifth incident, a student was awakened by a male suspect standing over her bed who placed a blanket over her and left. All five incidents occurred off-campus. Two, dated Sept. 5 and Dec. 11 were labeled by DPS as “sex offenses,” while each of the most recent three was described in a PSA as a “burglary.”

An investigation by the MPD and DPS into yesterday’s burglary is ongoing.
