Five Incidents Reported to DPS Over Summer

July saw the majority of reported summer crimes, with four burglaries and a sexual assault reported to university safety that month.

The first alleged burglary occurred on July 5 in the Leavey Center. The complainant reported seeing the male suspect hiding in Vital Vittles as he was unlocking the door but reported no items stolen from the store.

The following day, a complainant reported the theft of his wallet, which contained a debit card, credit card and $120 worth of cash, from an off-campus residence in the 3600 block of M Street.

Another off-campus burglary was reported on July 12, when a student reported finding an unidentified male in her Burleith home. The man fled and no items were reported missing.

The fourth burglary of the summer occurred back on the Georgetown campus. On July 20, two complainants reported the theft of $70 from their Copley Hall dorm room. Both residents reported that the room had been secure when they had left their room earlier in the evening.

The following week, a complainant reported an unknown male grabbed her breast while she was walking toward Alumni Square. The incident occurred during the afternoon of July 31. The suspect continued walking down the street and was not identified.

The Georgetown campus remained relatively quiet and crime-free for much of the month of August, though reports of an indecent exposure just off campus in West Georgetown were reported early yesterday morning on 37th and 36th streets. The unknown male reportedly exposed himself to a total of four complainants while driving down the streets.
