Reed and Guibunda To Leave Hilltop

Georgetown men’s basketball Head Coach John Thompson III announced last Saturday that sophomore guard Ray Reed and freshman forward Cornelio Guibunda were granted releases to transfer from Georgetown.

Reed came to Georgetown from Inglewood, Calif., where he attended Inglewood High School. He was a steady contributor to the team, averaging 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds over 58 games. This season he was one of the most consistent bench players for Georgetown, competing in 31 of 32 games and averaging 2.4 points in 16.2 minutes.

Guibunda, from Maputo, Mozambique, went to King & Low Heywood High School, where he was ranked the No. 16 high school center by College Basketball magazine before he enrolled at Georgetown. In his freshman season on the Hilltop he appeared in five games.

Either player has yet to state his future plans.

Georgetown Senior Sports Communications Director Bill Shapland said the university has no further comment.
