Season Draws to a Close in North Carolina

The Georgetown men’s and women’s golf teams continued their fall seasons this past weekend, as the men competed in the Xavier Invitational in Loveland, Ohio, and the women participated in the Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. The men finished in a tie for 18th and the women ended in sixth in the 20-team fields.

On the women’s side, the Hoyas were led by senior captain Chelsea Curtis who compiled the best tournament score of her career with a 3-under 68 in the final round. Curtis posted rounds of 4-over 75 and 6-over 77 during day one’s first two rounds of competition, bringing her three-round total score to 7-over 220 to finish in a tie for third place in the individual standings.

Curtis’ fellow teammate senior Carly Hunt posted a 9-over 80 in the final round to give her a tournament score of 17-over 230 and a 23rd place finish. Junior Robyn English and freshman Joan Dulieu both compiled three-round scores of 23-over 236 to end tied in 51st place.

The Hoya men ended the first day of tournament play in a tie for 16th. Georgetown was led in the first and second rounds by the senior duo of Garrett Logan and Timothy Hager. Logan shot a combined two-round score of 2-over 146 to put him in 43rd place in the individual standings and Hager posted a 3-over 147 to end day one in 50th place.

The team faltered during the third and final round of the tournament, falling back two spots in the team standings to finish in 18th place. Hager ended the tournament with a 4-over 220 and a 38th place finish, and Logan finished in 52nd place with a 6-over 222.

The Pirate Intercollegiate was the women’s last tournament of the fall season; the team will next compete in the William and Mary Invitational in March. The men’s next event is this weekend at the NCAA East Regional Preview in New Jersey.
