Student Assaulted by Five Men

A student was assaulted by five males near the intersection of 36th and P Streets NW at approximately 12:40 a.m. Friday, according to a Public Safety Alert issued by the Department of Public Safety the same day.

The PSA stated that five males approached the student, asked him for money and, when he refused, began to beat him over the head. When the student started yelling, the suspects fled, according to the report. Two suspects were described as a black male and a Hispanic male, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts. The other three suspects were not described in the report.

The PSA classified the incident as an “aggravated assault.”

DPS reported that the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene, but the student refused to file a report with them. The student also declined medical treatment.
