A Georgetown senior sustained minor injuries after an unknown intruder attacked him inside his O Street townhouse May 8.

Gilbert Calderon (MSB ’05) said he had returned to his house on the 3500 block of O Street at about 2 a.m. when he heard footsteps and was attacked from behind.

“I said `hello’ and then someone grabbed me from behind, dragged me, threw me into a window and hit me,” he said. Calderon said that the suspect then fled the scene.

According to a Metropolitan Police Department incident report, one of Calderon’s friends was waiting for him outside. After she called his cellular phone several times without receiving a response, she entered the building. She found Calderon lying on the kitchen floor with several cuts and bruises on his forehead and the two then called MPD, the report said.

The report said that several MPD units, including a special canine squad, responded to the scene and canvassed the area but officers could not locate the suspect. The Department of Public Safety also responded after MPD advised them of the incident, DPS Director Darryl Harrison said. No property was taken and Calderon declined medical attention at the scene.

A public safety alert e-mailed to the university community May 9 said that the intruder had entered the house through an open door. It described the suspect as a 6-foot-1 black male in his mid-20s with short hair and a medium build wearing dark clothing. Harrison said that the suspect remained at large.
