A Georgetown sophomore was shot this morning after an armed intruder pulled a gun at a Village B party.

Witnesses said that when a man was asked to leave a party at a Village B apartment at about 1:30 a.m., he drew a weapon and shot Peter Fisher (COL ’07) in his head. The injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

The intruder fled the scene and remains at large.

Fisher was taken to the Georgetown University Medical Center by GERMS.

By 2 a.m., three Metropolitan Police Department cruisers and one Department of Public Safety car were at the scene. MPD officers were interviewing at least 20 shaken students who were gathered in the area.

Jeanne Lord, associate vice president for student affairs, said that police were determining what happened and that she was unsure how badly Fisher had been injured.

“The police are inside right now investigating the incident. It appears a student was shot and it is our understanding that his injuries are not terribly serious but we are trying to come to a full understanding on this.”

Lord said that university officials were going to the hospital to check on Fisher’s condition.

Shortly after the incident DPS officers were instructed to look out for a suspect described as a 6’2″ Hispanic male with a ponytail.

At about 2:30 a.m. GERMS was called to the scene again following a report of a student with a head injury. It is unknown how that student was injured or what the extent of his injuries was.

This is not the first shooting to occur near the Georgetown campus.

A northeast D.C. man was shot in his foot in the 3400 block of P Street early Monday morning after engaging in a struggle with an armed suspect.

University officials said that they were unaware of that incident.
