Village C Lounge Has Grand Opening

InterHall will play host to a series of festivities to commemorate the grand opening of the new Village C “Formal Lounge” today and Saturday.

Initiated by InterHall and GUSA in a joint effort to improve the university’s residential community, the lounge contains new sports equipment, couches, tables and chairs. Vending machines have also been installed and a student-run snack bar called “Jack’s” – named after the university’s mascot – will open this spring.

Events begin today at 7 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony by university administrators. A billiards competition on the lounge’s new pool tables will follow, proceeded by a sports trivia challenge, movie night and karaoke night.

Saturday at the lounge will be called “The Great American Chillout,” as students will be free to use the lounge’s big-screen television, pool, foosball tables and CD jukebox.

InterHall will provide free food both days to students. The lounge will be open until 2 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday and on weekend nights thereafter.

The objective of the grand opening weekend is to publicize the creation of the lounge so that students can discover the lounge and begin utilizing it, according to InterHall members.
