What do you think is the place of beauty pageants in today’s society? More than anything, I think [pageants] help give girls confidence, especially when you’re growing up. I remember in middle school, I had no self-esteem. I didn’t like myself and I thought `Why would anyone like me?’ But then once I started doing the pageants, I thought, `Yeah, I am a pretty good person.’ Now I have a reason to be promoting a platform, make friends and be a presence in my community.
