The Hoya is eager to welcome you to its new mobile app.
The student software group Hoya Developers has been working with The Hoya throughout the past two years to build an interface that prioritizes reader accessibility and engagement. Currently available on iOS, The Hoya’s app includes features such as specific news categories, push notifications, a weekly crossword and more.
Leo Ledlow (SFS ’27), the president of Hoya Developers, said the organization has endeavored to make The Hoya’s journalism more accessible to readers.
“Hoya Developers has been hard at work to deliver new ways of engaging with the campus community,” Ledlow told The Hoya. “Our five-person team has spent over a year to bring you a quality experience and keep you connected to breaking news.”
Sophia Williams (CAS ’26), The Hoya’s former technology director, said she is proud that she was able to steer the app toward completion during her tenure.
“The Hoya app is something I’ve been really looking forward to, and I’m excited to officially retire from my stint as technology director with the app up and running,” Williams told The Hoya. “I might be biased, but it’s a must download if you want to stay in the loop with Georgetown happenings.”
Whether covering the confluence of Georgetown University and the federal government, the effects of budget cuts on academic departments or the women’s soccer team’s historic season, The Hoya prioritizes delivering content to its readers quickly and seamlessly. The new mobile app, with software that enriches The Hoya’s content, is critical to doing so.
