Nora Toscano (CAS ’27) will serve as The Hoya’s editor-in-chief beginning April 18.
Toscano, one of the paper’s current executive editors, will be the 153rd editor-in-chief of The Hoya, Georgetown University’s newspaper of record since 1920. She will lead the paper throughout the Fall 2026 semester and will publish her first print edition April 24.
Toscano, a native of Wantagh, N.Y., joined The Hoya as a news writer in Fall 2023 and has since served as a news desk editor, senior news editor and two-term executive editor. As editor-in-chief, Toscano aims to increase the paper’s diversity in sourcing, further develop The Hoya’s long-term projects and continue The Hoya’s investigative coverage.
In her current role as executive editor, Toscano has led The Hoya’s editorial sections while continuing to report on sensitive and breaking stories. Toscano has reported on the detention of a Georgetown University researcher, his subsequent immigration court cases, the death of a professor and an investigation into a professor’s conduct and allegations of sexual harassment.
As senior news editor during the Spring 2025 semester, Toscano led The Hoya’s largest section, overseeing the paper’s student life, academics, student government, graduate, events and city beats. She led reporting on the intersection of the federal government and the university, the detention of the post-doctoral researcher and changes in university admissions processes.
Before serving in those positions, Toscano served as news desk editor — working on the academic affairs beat — and as a staff writer.
Outside of The Hoya’s newsroom, Toscano is majoring in government and minoring in journalism.
The Hoya is Georgetown University’s oldest and largest student-run newspaper, publishing online daily and in print weekly. To reach out to Toscano with comments, questions or concerns about The Hoya, please email [email protected] or visit The Hoya’s office in Leavey Center 421.
