Assault on 35th and Prospect

A student was assaulted near the intersection of Prospect and 35th Streets at about 1:58 a.m. last Sunday, according to a Public Safety Alert released by the Department of Public Safety late Sunday evening.

An investigation was launched following the reported injury, and 14 hours into the investigation DPS determined the injury was due to assault. The PSA states that the victim reported seeing a large group of unidentified males assembled on the corner of 35th and Prospect Streets. One member of the group approached the victim and struck his face, causing a laceration. The assailant was described as a black male with a light complexion, standing at about 5-foot-8, approximately 20 years old, with a short haircut and wearing a blue shirt. Following this the group of males fled toward N Street NW.

The victim was transported to the Georgetown University Hospital Emergency Room following the attack. The victim declined to report the incident to the Metropolitan Police Department, according to the PSA.
