Assault Reported at 33rd and Prospect

An aggravated assault at the intersection of 33rd and Prospect Streets was reported early Tuesday morning. At about 1:30 a.m., an unknown male allegedly struck the back of a student’s head with an open fist.

The student reported the attack to the Department of Public Safety within an hour.

“On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at approximately 2:09 a.m., a student reported to DPS that while he was walking in the area of 33rd and Prospect Streets NW . he was assaulted by an unknown male. The suspect struck the complainant on the back of his head with an open fist, knocking the complainant to the ground. The suspect then fled the scene,” a DPS Public Safety Alert said.

The assailant was wearing jeans and a hooded jacket, according to the PSA. The

complainant did not seek medical treatment for minor injuries.

The Metropolitan Police Department will head up an investigation.
