Giblin-Lashner

Andreas Jeninga/The Hoya The Giblin-Lashner campaign kicked off Monday evening with a rally in the Healy foyer.

Focusing their campaign on the daily concerns of all Georgetown students, Adam Giblin (SFS ’06) and Eric Lashner (COL ’05) have put forth a platform that centers on campus food service and living conditions.

They propose the addition of “grab ‘n go” lunches at O’Donovan Dining Hall which would enable students to swipe their GOCard, grab a box lunch and leave. Speaking of general service at O’Donovan, Giblin said, “The growing pains should have run their course. It is now time to affect positive changes.”

Other items on the platform include the creation of a “quality expedited system for filing work orders [with facilities]” and a reevaluation of the existing alcohol policy, including the elimination of party registration.

“There are no vain promises in our platform. It is filled with practical and realizable goals,” Giblin said. “The key to this process is to make the administration understand how our proposals benefit not only the students but also the university as a whole.”

Both emphasize their experience in GUSA and other campus organizations as pivotal in making their platform achievable.

“Relationships are the key to the system,” Giblin said. “The best way to accomplish our goals is to establish positive relationships with the members of the administration that are able to work with us to make change.”

Giblin was the GUSA Deputy Chief of Staff this year under President Brian Morgenstern (COL ’05), who has endorsed his candidacy.

Lashner, who sat on The Corp’s Board of Directors this year and ran for a seat on the Advisory Neighborhood Commission last year, said, “By electing Adam and I, Georgetown students will get one of the best teams of dedicated students that have ever held this job.”
