After his dominating performance against Navy, sophomore center Roy Hibbert was named the Big East player of the week.
Hibbert saved the best performance of his career for the season’s opener, where he recorded career-best numbers for points, field goals made and attempted and blocks. His 20 points led all scorers.
The center also made eight of his 11 shots from the field and four of seven from the charity stripe. He rejected four shots after leading the team in blocks last year with 40 in 32 games. Hibbert achieved career bests across the board while only playing 25 minutes in the Hoyas’ 72-49 rout of the Midshipmen.
