When did you first start playing basketball? My mom [Elizabeth LeSueur] is a good swimmer, and I have a twin brother [Peter LeSueur], and we played a lot of water basketball. We were really young, and we would be in the pool shooting hoops. I would say probably first grade or kindergarten.
What made you decide to transfer to Georgetown [from Virginia]? Just that it was in the Big East. I came here and I knew Mary Lisicky [MSB `05]. We had played AAU basketball together for a few years. I just liked the mix about being a little closer to home and playing in the Big East, which is one of the bigger conferences, and to be at a better academic school and play in one of the top conferences.
Who on the team do you rely on the most? There is no one person really. I think everyone brings something different. One day you might need somebody for one thing, and another day someone else. The great part about being on a basketball team is that it is only 10-12 girls, so you really get to know everybody.
What was the best moment in your career so far? I think last year when we beat Notre Dame. It was an awesome year for us. It was the first time we beat them in 15 or longer years. We were down six with about a minute left and came back.
If you could change one thing about basketball what would it be? I don’t think there is anything I would change. I mean, I played a lot of sports in high school, and growing up I was in a very athletic family. Basketball, it is not like soccer where you wait a whole game to score a goal. You score almost every time up and down the court. It is fast-paced. You are not wearing a helmet. You are really close to the environment you are in. It is a great environment that I have just strived in.
What do you do to get psyched for a game? Christine Whitt [COL `06] usually does something crazy. She keeps it light and fun and gets everyone pumped up. Other than that just listen to music and stuff like that.
If you could be great at any other sport or event besides basketball, what would it be? Why? Probably soccer, just because I played in high school. My dad [Paul LeSueur] played professional soccer, so growing up that is what I was always around. I stopped playing in high school senior year because I did not want to jeopardize my playing basketball. So if there was any sport I’d want to get back into, it would be that.
What are you currently listening to? Before games I like to listen to Ludicris’ “Get Back.” Our coach’s daughter was singing it in the airport.
Biggest pet peeve? I like organization. So people that are disorganized, is that the word? My teammates like to think I have OCD.
Who in your life inspires you the most? I play with a little thing around my wrist, for my grandma [Therese artone] who just recently passed away. She is the most amazing woman I have met in my life. She took care of us when we were younger, even this summer, when she had a really tough go at it. ost people in her situation would want you to feel sorry for her. She would be like, “How lucky I am to be here.” She inspires me everyday of my life. It was really tough for us. I have her initials [holding a necklace on her neck].
Favorite Georgetown professor? I might get in trouble. Let me give you two. Professor Colmer [Business Financial anagement] and Professor McKabe [Management and Organizational Behavior]. Professor Colmer is a big basketball fan, and he was just an awesome person to talk to. Professor McKabe because he was just really hysterical.
If your dorm caught on fire, what one item would you save first and why? Probably my planner, the notepad I do everything on. I write down a daily schedule, like minute to minute.
One word people use to describe you? Probably just “hard-working.” At least my basketball friends would notice.
Favorite Georgetown restaurant? The Tombs – southwest chicken salad. I like extra salsa. Oh my God it is my favorite thing.
Favorite TV show? “Golden Girls.” I watch it at every hour. Well I always say – my Mom is Italian and really little, so I say she is like Sophia and I am like Dorothy. I am so much bigger than my Mom, and she rips into me about everything. My mom is really competitive, so I think I am sort of like that. Rose is an airhead and Blanche is a slut. It’s on Lifetime, and “The Nanny” comes on afterwards.
Favorite movie? Shrek and Shrek 2. I really like Shrek. I like little Puss in Boots. On the DVD there is Shrek’s dance party; you can sing along with it.
Least favorite movie? I saw it this past weekend: Sin City. I hate scary movies; I just like happy nice movies. I don’t like to watch killings. Everyone was getting killed. I am the biggest baby when it comes to that.
The thing you miss the most about home? Well, just being with my family, because we are really close. There is this one thing. We have this place called the New York Soup Exchange. The guy makes six fresh soups everyday from scratch. That is something I really miss. There isn’t a really good soup place around here. My favorite soup is – well, the name is really weird – it is a chicken and onion soup. It’s called “Cock-a-Leaky.” It even has prunes in it. It is really good. Every time I go home, I have to ask for it and the guy says, “You are the only person who likes this soup.”
Dream vacation? Anywhere where there is water and a place where I could work out, like a beach. Being from Long Island, I like to have water near me.
Anything you want to do before you graduate? Go to the NCAA tournament. That will be one. That is my biggest thing. Everything that is in my control I do or have already done. That is the big goal of mine since I have been here.
Dream job? My dream job would probably be like working for an NBA team or WNBA team in some way. In finance or a front office type of deal.
Pepsi or Coke? By far Pepsi. Pepsi is much better, but all we have around here is Coke. I can’t stand Coke compared to Pepsi.
How long do you see yourself playing basketball for? For a while. I mean, I just really enjoy the competitive aspect of it and really have fun doing it. Even when I am old and 50 playing in summer leagues, I hopefully can keep up. I will be the old lady in sweatbands and ankle braces. Always stay in shape.
Booey’s or Wisey’s? Wisey’s, just because it is closer. I don’t really do the Madnesses, but they have good fruit there. We get Booey’s all the time with basketball.
