Father Pat has become a familiar face to the many students who have shared meals with him in the dining halls, sung songs with him at special event, or gone on the popular ESCAPE retreats for freshmen and transfer students. Many new students have startlingly discovered that they are already a familiar face to him. Known for greeting almost everyone on campus by name, this colorful Jesuit will make you glad you submitted that Facebook photo.

What’s your favorite movie?

I like to be entertained, so fluff like “Undercover Brother” directed by Malcolm Lee (CAS ’92), “Get Shorty” or “Grosse Point Blank.” For beauty? “Dances with Wolves” maybe; for message? “The ission” or “Glory.”

What’s your favorite band/artist or type of music?

The Beatles will be famous 200 years from now musically – and I liked them. Anyone since: Sting, especially when with the Police.

Which person, living or dead, would you most like to meet and why?

Fr. Peter DeSmet, a Belgian Jesuit who was the first Jesuit in ontana and who opened up Jesuit missions throughout the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. He also provided for them all by annual trips to Europe to raise money and recruit Jesuits, both of which he succeeded at.

What was your proudest moment?

Winning my college conference 3-mile championship, because I wasn’t supposed to and I really was, and am, a slow runner.

What do you like about Georgetown?

That young people have the opportunity to get to know people completely different from themselves, and that so many leave after four years amazed at how much they have learned and changed while here.
