Student Assaulted

A Georgetown University female student was the victim of an off-campus sexual assault on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police Department reported to the Department of Public Safety on Sunday.

Based on the information received from MPD, an unknown male entered a student’s residence on the 3300 block of Prospect Street. Entry was gained in an unknown manner.

MPD is currently in the process of investigating the crime. DPS is assisting by coordinating communication between the student and PD, as well as ensuring that the student is kept abreast of any developments.

DPS stresses that the members of the university community are advised to be on the alert for any suspicious activity when leaving or entering the campus area.

Captain Michael Jacobs of MPD’s Second District declined to comment on the ongoing investigation of the assault.

“We do not have enough information to talk about [the crime] intelligently at this time,” he said.
