The 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, delayed a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, looks especially unusual this year for retired Paralympic swimmer and two-time gold medalist Michelle Konkoly (COL ’14).

Rather than cheering on her teammates from the sidelines in Tokyo, Konkoly finds herself in Connecticut, where NBC Sports is headquartered, broadcasting live for the Paralympic swimming events taking place across the globe.

The Hoya sat down with Konkoly to discuss her time as a swimmer, including her road to recovery following an injury sustained while on the Georgetown swim team, as well as what it means to report on the Paralympics from afar.
