D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a suspicious odor that was reported by the Office of Student Financial Services Wednesday afternoon.
Four fire trucks arrived on the scene at 3:13 p.m. to examine the office, which is located in the basement of Healy Hall.
According to university spokesperson Stacy Kerr, a light ballast, which limits the amount of electrical current in a circuit, had overheated.
No evacuation of the building was required. D.C. Fire began to leave the scene at 3:35 p.m.
