After last year’s overwhelming success, the OWN IT Summit is back! As The Hoya is the campus media partner, 4E will be periodically bringing you profiles of the illustrious speakers. Today, 4E is proud to profile 2014 Thiel Fellow and Co-Founder of The Crated, Creative Technologist Madison Maxey!

Madison (Maddy) is a creative technologist hailing from San Diego, CA.

Maddy began interning in the fashion industry at age 16 for a variety of companies, including Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Ricco, Peter Som and Nylon Magazine.

After completing her sophomore year at Parsons, founding a popular fashion blog and winning a scholarship from CFDA & Teen Vogue, she start her own collection of blazers called Madison Maxey.

In 2013 Maddy became a Thiel Fellow, receiving a $100,000 stipend. As a Fellow, Maddy focused on R&D in the wearables and computation design space through her company, The CRATED.

The Crated invests product development into emerging wearable tech and enhanced apparel companies.

Recently her work has been featured in publications like The Wall Street Journal and Fast Company. She currently spends her time computing and designing at The CRATED.
