Put some aloe on that sunburn, pack up your skis and give up hope on that missing flip-flop – spring break comes to an end tonight. But hey, the weatherman says that it’s supposed to be in the 70’s all week, so it’ll be easy to pretend you’re still lounging by the pool (plus, you know, homework). If you’re looking to procrastinate just a little longer before classes start back up, here’s the news that you probably missed over the last week.

• The National Park Service announced the peak bloom dates for the Cherry Blossoms: March 24-31, for this year’s Centennial Cherry Blossom Festival. D.C.’s mild winter has contributed to an early bloom time this year, so make your plans to head downtown before the tourists get here.
• Capital Bikeshare got a green light for five new stations on the National Mall at major sites like the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. No word yet on when exactly they will be installed.
• GW had a scare on Tuesday night when the Secret Service reported a gunman inside the library. The building was evacuated and searched, but no gunman was found on campus.
• On Thursday afternoon, a man was struck and killed by a metro train at the Foggy Bottom station.
• The Louisville Cardinals won the 2012 Big East tournament in a 50-44 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Georgetown, after a 64-53 win against Pitt, fell to Cincinnati in double-overtime in the quarterfinals. We still have a chance to redeem ourselves in the NCAA tournament, where the Hoyas are the three seed in the Midwest region. • Daylight Saving Time starts today! You’ve probably already noticed that by now, but don’t forget to turn ahead your analog clocks (if you have any). And in case you’re curious about why we still do this, National Geographic has an explanation for you.
