After much anticipation, the Smithsonian National Zoo has welcomed two new giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao. If the Live Animal Cams don’t cut it for you, visit the Zoo in person to witness the bears of international intrigue. Tickets to the Zoo are free; Entry Passes must be reserved online in advance. We recommend arriving by foot or public transportation; parking passes are $30. Due to high demand, line access for the Giant Panda Habitat may close early. Arrive with time to spare!
The Iranian Cultural Society is hosting the annual Nowruz Gala on Tuesday, March 22. Celebrate the Persian New Year with students from Georgetown and other universities! It will be held in the Copley Formal Lounge from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can also look forward to the wonderful food that will be provided, including kabobs, other traditional dinner dishes (including vegetarian options) and cultural sweets. The Office of Outdoor Education’s spring activities are ramping up! Although the Old Rag hike is already sold out, this week, there is also an Invasives and Aerials event. From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 22, embark upon a unique day of stewardship and adventure! The day will begin with removing invasive species at Belle Haven Park with the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail. Then, the group will venture to the Madeira School for lunch and an aerial adventure on the ropes course, finishing the day with s’mores. Register on Campus Groups for $20.
