With Halloween looming large, it’s time for Georgetown’s sixth annual screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” sponsored by GU Pride and Georgetown Program Board and performed by a shadow cast of Hoyas. Join in on this “crazy, spooky, raunchy, irreverent night” in the Lohrfink Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Quick logistics: buy the $3 admission ticket on CampusGroups, doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Dupont Fall Festival and Bluegrass Jamboree
Have you ever heard live bluegrass music in Washington, D.C.? If not, you can change that this Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Dupont Circle Park. The Fall Festival will offer pumpkin and gourd painting, pet costume contests and a performance by the regionally renowned bluegrass band, Shannon Leigh and the Good Bygones. Take the Dupont GUTS bus or walk to the park, situated right by the Dupont Circle Metro station.
Día de los Muertos at the National Museum of the American Indian
Although Día de los Muertos is traditionally celebrated from Nov. 1 to 2, join the National Museum of the American Indian in celebrating this Mexican tradition early. This free, day-long event Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. observes the holiday by honoring past ancestors through celebrations including dance performances, mask making, artist and food demos and learning more about Mexican culture and traditions.
One of D.C.’s most beloved traditions is back: Embassy Row trick-or-treating! On Thursday, Oct. 31, walk along Embassy Row in costume to experience the gravitas and fun of embassy visits during Halloween. On Massachusetts Avenue NW, from Dupont Circle toward the National Cathedral, stop in at the Embassies of Belize, Greece, Paraguay, Portugal, Lesotho, Slovenia and Indonesia, among others. Most are open from about 12 to 4 p.m.
