Fr. James Schall, S.J., is a wonderful Jesuit and good friend. He and I are both political scientists and from the California Province of the Jesuits. Although we might have different political views, that has never hurt our friendship or mutual respect. I have been proud of the many times he was chosen as best teacher of the year. At one such award ceremony he described his goal as a teacher — that the students after taking his course want to read more books. Ad multos annos.
