Costa Rican President to Deliver Commencement Remarks

Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla Miranda (GRD ’89) will be among a number of high profile speakers at Georgetown’s commencement ceremonies next week.

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Harvard medical anthropologist Paul Farmer will also speak.

Chinchilla, Landrieu and Farmer will address graduates of the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown Public Policy Institute and Georgetown College respectively. Farmer and Chinchilla will be awarded honorary degrees.

Separate commencement ceremonies are held for each undergraduate and professional school as part of graduation exercises that will take place May 19 through May 22.

Other speakers of note include American economist Michael Jensen, who will address the McDonough School of Business, Dr. John Howard who will speak at the School of Nursing and Health Studies’s commencement and University President John J. DeGioia who will deliver the speech at the SFS-Q graduation in Doha, Qatar. Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Solow will address MBA graduates of the MSB.
