Men’s Golf
On Monday and today, the Georgetown men’s golf team hit the green for their first tournament of the year with a trip to Cambridge, Md. for the Maryland Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. The 13-team tournament, featuring the likes of Penn, Seton Hall, Towson and Old Dominon, is a tough first challenge for the Hoyas, who finished 13th in their last appearance at the tournament. However, the Blue and Gray, who won the Big East championship two years ago and fourth in the championship last year, are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Hoyas to watch: junior Brian Dorfman and sophomore Curtis Loop.
Women’s Golf
This Friday, the Georgetown women’s golf team will open their season with a trip to New Haven, Conn. for the Yale Intercollegiate Tournament. In the off-season, the Hoyas saw quite a few changes, none more important than the hiring of Head Coach Katie Brophy, who was a former assistant coach at Indiana. Under Brophy, Georgetown hopes to capitalize on a stellar season last year that saw the Blue and Gray finish fourth at the Big East Championships. However, the Hoyas will face a group of diverse teams ranging from Brown to Villanova Southeastern.
Hoyas to watch: sophomore Alice Choi and senior Eunae Jo.
