Ethan Henshaw (CAS ’26) and Darius Wagner (CAS ’27) won the Georgetown University Student Association (GUSA) executive election.
Voting took place from 8 p.m. Nov. 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7, with the GUSA Election Commission announcing the results Nov. 7 at 11:43 p.m. Henshaw, who will serve as GUSA president, and Wagner, who will become GUSA vice president, beat Allie Sanchez (MSB ’26) and Paul Sperber (CAS ’26); the Election Commission has not yet released full vote totals or turnout information.
Henshaw currently serves as a GUSA senator, while Wagner is the chair of GUSA’s financial accessibility committee. Their campaign focused on issues including admissions reform, mental health, accessibility and gender-inclusive housing; Henshaw and Wagner are both co-founders of Hoyas Against Legacy Admissions, an organization that advocates equitable admissions practices at Georgetown.
Henshaw said he is looking forward to beginning his term.
“I’m really excited to get to work, helping build up a transition team, making sure that we’re installing good people,” Henshaw told The Hoya. “I think we’ll get a lot of good stuff done for this campus.”
Henshaw and Wagner won 1,061 of the 1,641 executive votes. In the GUSA election, 1,790 total people voted, representing 19.7% of the student body, a 27.7% decrease from Spring 2024 and Fall 2023.
Henshaw said he and Wagner are excited to bring their policy proposals to Georgetown.
“We’re gonna be trying everything and anything every day,” Henshaw said. “Darius and I have been really passionate about admissions reform, so I definitely think we’ll be hammering them on trying to find a way to improve the admissions system for the incoming cycle.”
“We’ll be doing everything — the mental health, the accessibility, gender-inclusive housing,” Henshaw added. “It’ll be good to be in the room.”
At its Nov. 10 meeting, the GUSA Senate certified the election results on the recommendation of the Election Commission. The senate then confirmed Senator Rhea Iyer (CAS ’26) as speaker and Senator Meriam Ahmad (SFS ’26) as vice speaker.
Senator Sahil Sud (SFS ’27) will serve as chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee (PAC), which drafts the senate’s non-binding resolutions. Senator Tina Solki (MSB, SFS ’26) will chair the Finance and Appropriations Committee (FinApp), which allocates club advisory board budgets. Senator Evan Cornell (CAS ’27) will chair the Ethics and Oversight Committee (E&O), which enforces the GUSA constitution and bylaws.
